It is amazing how much and how quickly our lives can change! We went from hugs on Valentine’s Day to Covid-19 and elbow/foot bumps in a matter of weeks. The importance of Estate Planning has become so real to families around the world. My prayer is that you and your family are and remain safe and healthy. If you have not finalized or updated your planning documents -- don't wait to do so. If you know of family or friends who have been putting this off, this is also the time to remind them to get it done soon.
At Adams Law Office, we have been working hard to implement the best protocols to keep our clients and our team as safe as possible in light of the Coronavirus threat and our goal to provide excellent service. We will likely be working remotely for a while, but we are still available by phone and email to answer questions. We will also conduct client consultations over the phone and via Zoom. For our Estate Planning signing ceremonies, we have several options available. We can either provide a standard signing, a "Safer Signing," or ship your documents to your home where you can arrange a mobile notary to notarize and a neighbor to witness your signing. Of course, there is a new normal, so our standard signing has also been adjusted for the times -- our team is monitored for illness, directed not to report to work if not feeling well or if they have come into contact with someone who has the virus, and we will greet our clients as safely as possible (unfortunately, that no longer includes a handshake). For those clients in an at-risk population and for any client who requests it, our Paralegal can print and bind your documents with gloves and a mask and we can review your documents in the same way so that you can be confident when you take your documents home. In addition, we use social distancing in our large conference room while witnessing and notarizing your documents and can also wear masks and gloves for our clients who are in an at-risk population or for those who request it. Our offices are cleaned nightly and we will be cleaning between signings as well. We hope that the precautions we implement, seen and unseen, will help all of us to feel safer as we go about doing the important business of planning for our families and our legacy!
